This past year marked my tenth year of photographing weddings. Ten Years - Wahoo!

As I was reviewing my goals from last year I found I surpassed my business goals and expectations for my business this past year! Thank you to all of my clients who let me share in celebrating your happy day. I wish you so much joy in your new adventures. I was so impressed with the quality of the families I met and photographed this year. I simply love all of my repeat clients, it is so fun to see how your families grow and change from year to year.

I am pleased to tell you that I have updated my website. It has been a while coming, but I am happy to have some new pictures posted from the gorgeous events I have photographed this past year. I made this drive so many times for so many years I could drive it in my sleep.

Just a random fact - Back when I was in college I was driving my cute white Chevy home

for the weekend to visit the family and with no warning what-so-ever my glove compartment

box burst into open flames. True story - happened right near where this picture was taken.

I think about that moment every time I drive through here.

If you were wondering - yes, I certainly did panic, I may have screamed,

and I ALSO successfully put the fire out. This was back before I had a cell phone, so I

risked my life by continuing to drive my car in the dark with no taillights (thanks to the fire)

to the closest telephone (which was NOT close, this happened in the middle of nowhere).

My parents didn't answer their phone so I had to call my aunt to have her go find my parents

so I could confirm with my Dad that is was actually safe to drive a car that bursts into flames.

I made it home. End of story.

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays - a time set aside to give thanks... and eat good food!

And I just wanted to say thank you to all of my clients,

all of my brides and grooms and all my cute families...

and all of you have ever referred me to someone else - THANK YOU!

I love my clients - you are simply amazing, and I couldn't be where I am without you!

On a personal note, I know every one goes through difficult things in their lives.

We usually just keep them quietly to ourselves and deal with it.

But sometimes you really just need someone to talk to.

I have had a rough couple of months and so this Thanksgiving I am feeling overwhelmed with gratitude for all of my friends and family.

I just wanted to say thank you so much to those who have listened and cried with me

and been so supportive of me.

I also couldn't be more grateful for my family. I simply love them.

They love me and support me in everything and I am very grateful for that.

After every storm the sun comes out again ...

and the light is always more perfect than if there had never been a storm.

DC Horse Show

The horse on the front right - GORGEOUS.

The second most beautiful horse in the show.

I have a thing for beautiful grey horses and I unfortunately did not

get a picture of the most beautiful horse in the show

(The grey beauty was only in the first competition when we first got there).

This was the competition to see how hight the horse could jump.

You can see the wall starts low and gets gradually higher.

The winning horse jumped a seven foot wall.

It was absolutely incredible.

I have it on video, but couldn't download it today - so maybe I will post it some other time.

It was pretty impressive - and it was a beautiful horse that won too!

On my way home from a gorgeous wedding last night I stopped to take this picture.

I couldn't really see well enough to get a great composition - not bad for the dark - right?!

You can see a few really short star trails.

If I wasn't getting eaten alive by mosquitos I might have taken a few more, however,

I managed to kill what I believe was a stink bug inside my shirt on the back of my neck

(with my bare hands no less). This was within an hour of arriving at the wedding.

I smelled bad the rest of the night. Stinking stink bugs - gross.

So you can see why a few mosquitos put an end to a great photo session!

Too many bugs for one night.

So the blog has been a little slow.

I have been busy with a lot of weddings and just all around enjoying summer.

Here are a few quick pictures of some of my adventures:

Restaurant week at Zengo DC (the tacos were to die for) - so good,

outdoor movies with beautiful weather,

I moved to a new house,

went for a couple of early morning walks around a beautiful little lake,

went to the play - Oklahoma,

driving and watching the sky get darker as the hurricane approached,

photographed an outdoor wedding in the rain/hurricane,

got VIP treatment at the Verizon Center for a basketball game - our own section,

went to the beach - twice!
